Donate a Book for a Man/Woman in Prison

Text Box:

Many of our Native American men and women are in prison; and a significant number are there because of the effects of intergenerational trauma (colonization and cultural genocide occurring over the centuries):  physical, emotional, spiritual, and sexual abuse; alcohol and drug abuse;  loss of identity, language and culture;  loss of spiritual connection, meaning and purpose in their lives; broken families, domestic violence, lack of parenting skills; and loss of the sense of belonging to their families, traditions, and tribes.

Many made terrible decisions and committed crimes under the influence of drugs or alcohol.  Many got caught up in a series of unhealthy choices and relationships. While in prison, these individuals rarely receive opportunities for healing or for restoring their sense of meaning and purpose in life.

The Red Road to Wellbriety: In the Native American Way provides a beginning for the Journey Home to Cultural ways.  The book is a cultural approach to sobriety and wellness, and provides a cultural approach to 12 Step process: “When we place the 12 Steps in a circle then they come into alignment with the circle teachings that we know from many of our tribal ways.”

We have a waiting list of requests to send books to Native men and women in the prisons throughout the United States each year.

At $18 per book plus shipping, the cost increases quickly.  Your donations (of any amount) can help us to continue this give-away to our Native brothers and sisters in prison.
